Job Description
The Sporting Clays Club Range Safety Staff will be responsible for the safety and operation of the Sporting Clays Club daily activities to include maintenance of courses and equipment. In addition, other duties will include member check-in, and retails sales and reporting at the club; as well as monitoring of members shooting at the club to ensure that all club rules and safety practices are being adhered to. Staff will be expected to adhere to Biltmore guidelines and guest service standards at all times, and provide general assistance and support for leadership, the department, and company as needed.
Reserve: a position working 40-999 hours per year. Weekend and holiday availability are a requirement of this position.
Schedule may vary, but generally Monday, Wednesday - Sunday 1am-5pm and Sundays 11am-5pm.
Essential Job Duties
1. Ensure that all range areas are monitored for hazards.
2. Ensure that range equipment is functioning properly.
3. Ensure that club vehicles and equipment are working properly.
4. Ensure that club members are following proper safety practices and are adhering to BSCC rules.
5. Properly perform office and retail duties which will include member check-in, retail sales, equipment rental, daily reporting, and any other necessary or prescribed office duties.
6. Completes any other duties or projects that are assigned by the Program Supervisor.
7. Responsible for meeting Biltmore performance and service standards necessary to achieve expected levels of guest satisfaction.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Duties and projects as assigned by the Crew Leader.
2. Gains knowledge about all aspects of the working estate and competency in appropriately cross-selling other services and amenities across the property.
3. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with all other Biltmore employees and departments.
4. Ability to quickly learn estate history, products, and services, and should be knowledgeable about Asheville and Western North Carolina.
5. Provide general assistance and support to the leadership, department, and company as required.
Qualifications
1. High school diploma required. Additional education or training preferred. Must have or be able to obtain NRA Range Safety Officer, First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
2. At least one (1) year of related experience. Ideal candidate will have had prior experience in the same or similar role working in an upscale outdoor recreation or guest service environment.
3. Candidates must be familiar with all safety regulations and procedures related to fly fishing and shooting instructor. Experience fishing in regional waters preferred.
4. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service.
5. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to convey information clearly, concisely, and effectively to a wide range of audiences; solid public speaking skills.
6. Strong planning, organizational, and project/time management skills; prioritizes work with a focus on safety and quality, and with attention to details; adapts, multi-tasks.
7. Proactive, exercises good judgment; anticipates, troubleshoots, problem solves.
8. Represents the program and company in a professional manner consistent with standards is a must. Handles basic guest service issues with diplomacy and tact.
Physical Requirements
1. Applicant must be in good physical condition and able to sustain a high level of physical and mental performance for the duration of up to 10 hour work days.
2. Applicant must be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather.
3. Applicant must be able to hear sound within a minimum of 60 feet.
4. Applicant must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
5. Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record for the past three (3) years, and be at least 19 years of age.
