YOUR ROLE
As a Tax Manager you will be responsible for managing the tax compliance of the group's companies, including, but not limited to, the preparation and filing of federal tax returns in Mexico, the management of tax audits, the planning and representation of the company before tax authorities, as well as the training and management of personnel within the tax department.
Responsibilities
- Review the calculation of current income tax, including accounting and tax reconciliation, annual tax returns, and tax opinions.
- Review deferred tax calculations under US GAAP (ASC 740) and Mexican GAAP (NIF D-4).
- Review effective tax rate calculations (quarterly US GAAP and annual MX GAAP).
- Calculate and review deferred employee profit sharing (PTU).
- Manage and oversee the SIVA system (VAT credit system).
- Analyze and report FIN 48 (uncertain tax positions) and ensure SOX compliance.
- Review tax-related account reconciliations (VAT, withholding taxes, and income tax).
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate monthly tax activities.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement of tax processes.
- Review provisional tax payments (income tax, VAT, withholdings) and ensure timely filing.
- Monitor intercompany transactions and compliance.
- Prepare and review projections of monthly tax payments.
- Review monthly sales calculations (Mark-Up).
- Oversee information returns (DIOT, DIEMSE, Annex 9, etc.).
- Coordinate transfer pricing documentation (APA, Safe Harbor, economic studies).
- Manage responses to tax authority requests and audits.
- Provide guidance on Mexican tax legislation to internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate tax audits and tax opinions with external auditors.
- Lead transfer pricing studies for Mexican legal entities.
- Support tax planning and transfer pricing projects in Mexico and Latin America.
- Maintain communication with the tax team to ensure achievement of goals.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- +8 years of experience in a similar tax leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican tax laws (Income Tax Law, VAT Law, Federal Tax Code).
- Solid understanding of tax accounting under US GAAP (ASC 740) and Mexican GAAP (NIF D-4).
- Experience with transfer pricing regulations and compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- SAP knowledge.
- Advanced English (written and spoken).
- Basic understanding of tax litigation processes.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- High level of organization, proactivity, and service-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
