About the Position
As a Technical Product Manager, you will develop innovative products including multi-stage long-term implementation planning from a functional/technical perspective in an overarching strategic task area. You continuously translate business strategies into product strategies, roadmaps and product specifications.
We’re looking for a Product Owner to lead the SmartTV experience for Samsung and LG platforms across DT EU markets.
This role sits within the central product organization and works closely with other platform and touchpoint teams including Set-Top Box (STB), mobile, and web product organizations. A key responsibility is ensuring feature parity, aligned customer journeys, and a consistent MagentaTV experience across all consumer platforms.
The Product Owner will work in a highly collaborative international setup with engineering teams based in Germany and India, coordinating delivery across distributed teams and multiple stakeholders.
The ideal candidate combines strong OTT product management expertise with hands-on experience in SmartTV ecosystems and cross-platform product coordination.
Your main Tasks
- Own the SmartTV product roadmap for Samsung Tizen and LG webOS applications across DT European markets
- Drive alignment between SmartTV, STB, mobile app, and web app product teams to ensure feature parity and a unified customer experience
- Coordinate cross-platform product initiatives within central MagentaTV teams and local market organizations
- Define and prioritize SmartTV product requirements based on customer needs, analytics, platform capabilities, and business objectives
- Ensure consistency of core user journeys including onboarding, authentication, subscription handling, playback, search, recommendations, watchlists, and personalization across touchpoints
- Translate central product strategy into SmartTV-specific execution plans while respecting platform limitations and certification requirements
- Work closely with distributed engineering teams in Germany and India to drive efficient product delivery and release execution
- Act as the primary product counterpart for SmartTV engineering teams, UX/UI designers, QA, analytics, operations, and external vendors
- Manage and prioritize the SmartTV backlog in an Agile delivery environment
- Participate in PI planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and cross-team coordination activities within a SAFe Agile setup
- Coordinate releases and feature rollouts across multiple DT EU markets
- Collaborate with Samsung and LG platform partners to ensure certification compliance and optimized platform performance
- Monitor KPIs such as engagement, streaming stability, app performance, crash rates, retention, and customer satisfaction
- Identify gaps in cross-platform customer experience and drive harmonization initiatives
- Support go-to-market activities for launches, major releases, and platform upgrades
- Coordinate dependencies with backend, playback, DRM, CMS, identity, recommendation, and monetization platform teams
- Contribute to long-term SmartTV platform strategy and connected entertainment initiatives
Must-Have Skills
- 7-10 years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in OTT, streaming, digital media, or connected TV products
- Strong understanding of SmartTV ecosystems, specifically Samsung Tizen and LG webOS
- Experience managing products in multi-platform environments including TV, mobile, web, or STB ecosystems
- Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional and cross-platform product initiatives
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and product lifecycle management
- Experience working in distributed international delivery organizations with offshore and nearshore engineering teams
- Familiarity with OTT streaming technologies including DRM, adaptive bitrate streaming, playback integrations, and video platform services
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in international and matrix organizations
- Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics and KPIs to guide prioritization and optimization
- Fluent English communication skills
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of SAFe Agile methodology and experience working in SAFe delivery organizations
- Experience working with engineering teams distributed across Germany and India
- Experience with Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, or operator set-top-box platforms
- Background in telecommunications, pay TV, or subscription streaming services
- Understanding of SmartTV certification and app publishing processes
- Experience with customer journey harmonization across digital touchpoints
- Familiarity with CI/CD and release management processes for TV applications
- German language skills are a plus
