General Description/Primary Purpose: 
The Department of English is seeking a 9-month, non-tenure earning, Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing. Position responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load or its equivalent, and service.  

 

Supervisor: This position will report to the Department Chair. 

 

Working Hours: Varies by assignment, but expected to be weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. 

 

Supervision Exercised: This is not a supervisory role.

 

Required Licensure:  N/A 

 

Anticipated Start Date:  The position is expected to begin on August 3, 2026. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Awarded a Master of Arts in English, or comparable graduate degree, by the start date of employment.

  • Candidates must have teaching experience at the university level, or equivalent experience preparing curriculum and planning.

The English Graduate Program offers the M.A. in English and M.A. concentrations in Creative Writing and Composition and Rhetoric. The department also offers minors in Creative Writing, Film, Literature, and Professional & Public Writing.
