The School of Medicine is seeking a high-calibre individual who excels in a dynamic, fast-paced, and multi-tasking environment to assist in finance and development.  The Assistant Manager is responsible for handling financial related matters and will report to the Senior Manager (Finance & Development).   Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the development and management of the School of Medicine’s budget, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance, including income and expenditure analysis, to support decision-making.
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and presentations for school meetings, committee meetings and stakeholder review.
  • Assist in management of funding sources, including donations, and endowments, to maximize financial resources.
  • Track and manage expenditures against approved budgets, coordinating with project leads to address discrepancies.
  • Assist in financial audits and ensure adherence to institutional policies and regulations.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely processing of financial transactions, including invoices and reimbursements.
  • Facilitate communication between the finance office, and related stakeholders regarding financial matters.
  • Participate in special projects related to finance, development, and strategic planning as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and have minimum 5 years’ of relevant post-qualification work experience, preferably in a tertiary institution. An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) is required. Proficiency in computer applications and IT skills is expected. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, effective project management skills, adept multi-tasking capabilities, and the ability to work independently.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable. Appointments will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
