Job Duties:

The person in this position reports to the Student Success Center Director in the SHSW. This is a full-time annual position with expectations to work in-person on the main campus. They are responsible for planning outreach program activities, developing and strengthening partnerships with internal and external programs, as well as facilitating student learning experiences for students in the SHSW. The Outreach Specialist will serve as the forward-facing representative of our school and academic programs to new and existing community partners in the areas of business and health care to offer high-impact practices to enhance students’ learning. This person is key to our efforts to recruit, retain, and graduate students.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
  • Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
  • Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program

The School of Health Sciences and Wellness (SHSW) has 1200 students and offers 7 undergraduate majors, 7 graduate degree programs, and several certificate programs. Compensation:

$48,000-$55,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the academic and co-curricular requirements of students attending a comprehensive university (this can be quantified with possessing a bachelor’s degree, having worked within higher education, etc.)
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in one or more of the following: planning outreach program events, community partnerships and networking, business-community relations, event planning and promotion
  • Progressive record of professional work experience
  • Ability to work independently, plan and organize complex tasks, problem solve, establish priorities, complete multiple concurrent tasks, and maintain a balance between details and the big picture.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders in a professional manner.  These stakeholders include faculty, administrative staff, donors, business and community partners, students, and parents
  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills including active listening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience with planning outreach program activities
  • Knowledge of Central Wisconsin health systems
  • Familiarity with health-related academic programs and requirements
  • Familiarity with office procedures and University policies
