Job Description
Position Summary:
Dynamic hands-on role responsible for accounting, reporting, planning and financial support with a focus on machine cost, fixed assets, warranty, inventory and cost accounting. This position interacts with all levels of Operations and Administration functions in a collaborative team environment and reports to Rochester Controller.
Job Responsibilities:
Inventory Transactions, Accounting and Reporting
Responsible for accounting, reconciliation, reporting and analysis of inventory transactions.
Analyze aged WIP inventory.
Perform monthly WIP machine inventory confirmation cycle counts and support annual test of non-machine WIP count by external auditors.
Prepare annual LIFO calculation.
Cost and Manufacturing Accounting
Monitor, report and allocate manufacturing and purchase price variances as needed.
Publish and analyze weekly and monthly labor reports.
Perform annual standards roll and interim standards updates as needed.
Lead direct cost center budgeting process including development of cost center rates.
Cost of sales analysis and review for non-machine/aftermarket products.
Schedule weekly/daily settlement runs in SAP.
Coordinate monthly worldwide CO transaction status in SAP.
Capital Spending and Depreciation
Coordinate all capital accounting, reporting and planning activities.
Complete capital related Rochester Corporate submission schedules.
Serve as backup for Sage Fixed Asset system and provide reporting for book and tax puposes for Rochester based entities as well as sister companies in Illinois & Ohio.
Work with AP as related to sales tax self assessment on capital spending.
GWR Machine Cost Planning and Accounting
Maintain machine cost Excel tool for Rochester manufactured machines.
Monitor/identify, perform cost transfers and report on excess cost on new machine models reclassified to development expense.
Development of machine costs for the annual plan and forecasts.
Review machines shipped for any late cost accrual adjustment needed.
Other
Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliation accounts including deferred revenue (extended warranty).
Perform warranty reclass and provide monthly reporting in support of Quality function.
Support annual audit as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
Strong organizational, time management, analytical and communication skills – ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
Cost accounting experience is preferred.
Experience with perpetual inventory systems and both physical inventory and cycle counting processes.
Must possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Experience with ERP systems like SAP preferred.
Experience with a fixed asset system a plus
Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited institution.
Formal training and experience in financial accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, and reporting
5-10 years of experience and working in a manufacturing industry a plus.
