Job Summary:

Wisconsin Athletics seeks an enthusiastic, dynamic, team focused, relationship driven leader to fill the role of Assistant Athletic Director- Development. This position will play a key role in shaping the intermediate and long-term development efforts for Wisconsin Athletics by providing leadership on fundraising priorities, campaign strategies, prospect analysis, and revenue growth opportunities. This position will manage a major gift portfolio of prospects and donors while serving as the Department Head for Development focusing on operational management of the development team including various donor focused revenue streams and stewardship.  

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships
  • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
  • Plans and directs staff implementation of advancement initiatives and programs in alignment with the strategic plan
  • Collaborates with unit leadership to deliver directed program messaging to internal and external audiences
  • May serve as the unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups providing organizational information on business-relations issues, opportunities, and activities and representing the interests of the unit
  • Evaluates advancement strategy effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement

Compensation:

The minimum starting salary is $100,000, but may be negotiable depending on applicant qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in working within an intercollege athletics department
  • An understanding of the changing landscape of intercollege athletics
  • Proven to be a successful leader
  • Successful track record of identifying, cultivating, soliciting and securing gifts of $1M+
  • Represent UW-Madison and Wisconsin Athletics in a professional manner at events, games, and engagements
  • Team-focused collaborator able to partner with Athletics leadership, coaches and staff on development initiatives to secure philanthropic support
  • Skilled at developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to present to small and large groups representing Wisconsin Athletics
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in making data informed decisions
  • Willingness to participate in cross campus and cross functional initiatives and projects with key partners including the UW Foundation, Badger Sports Properties, Legends Global, and others.
  • Experience with project management and CRM systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Paciolan, Salesforce, Asana, and Tableau
  • Experience in people management
  • Experience in strategic planning and data management
  • Budget management experience
  • Innate curiosity to find new revenue opportunities
  • Membership in the National Association of Athletic Development Directors

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
