Job Description

· Work with all relevant departments to create beautiful, high quality environment lighting that matches the game-play and art direction of the world while respecting the story-telling requirements

· Balance performance and visual quality with your lighting

· Identify and set up best practices of production workflow 

· Strong knowledge in modern engine Global Illumination techniques (GI optimisation and baking automation, dynamic GI…)

· Create lighting for interiors, exteriors, character set-ups, and cinematics.

· Work to meet Production deadlines

· Work with Technical Directors to assist with creating and providing feedback of development of Lighting-specific tools and features

· Communicate effectively with other departments to solve of any technical or artistic issues to overcome technical lighting challenges within given constraints and visual requirements

· Debug and optimize lighting scenarios as required

· Prioritize, plan, and organize Lighting tasks with the management team to help Identify risks within the schedule and suggest changes 

· Translate conceptual illustrations into outstanding real-time lighting 

· Establish lighting mood board and lighting visual targets based on Art Director's guidance and game design needs 

· Provides creative direction and feedback to concept artists on defining the mood for the project in pre-production

  • 5+ years of experience with multiple (preferably AAA ) titles shipped as a Lighting Artist
  • Degree/Diploma in Fine Arts, Film, or Animation or other relevant discipline
  • Lighting experience in Unreal Engine or an equivalent game engine (e.g. Unity/Frostbite)
  • Excellent understanding of color, materials, mood, space and the properties of light
  • An interest in Photography and Cinematography
  • Experience with Maya or Blender or equivalent DCC is a plus
  • The ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • Must be able to work in Canada

4 weeks vacation, 10 personnal days, complete benefits paid 80% by employer. Flexible schedule, creative freedom.
