Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider in our (Ortho/Infectious Diseases) located in Durham and Morrisville, NC to work in collaboration with attending physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to provide direct patient care services including but not limited to physical exams, collect & document data, order and conduct approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies, order and/or conduct professional consultations and prescribe appropriate interventions and medications. The APP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting, and provides leadership to the organization and healthcare professions.

 

Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.  Rotational on-call responsibilities for emergent surgical cases when assistance is required.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the attending of service supporting 8 clinical sessions per week for patients to assess, diagnose, plan treatment, set priorities and realistic outcomes, and evaluate the effectiveness and cost efficiency of patient care.
  • Perform procedures specific to the work environment after demonstrated competency and within the guidelines of scope of practice and credentialing protocols.
  • Assess patients for change in status and institute appropriate interventions. Initiate emergency interventions in an effort to stabilize the patient until physician support arrives.
  • Postoperative stabilization and management.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, nursing staff, patient resource manager, home health agency, and other relevant healthcare providers.
  • Utilize prescriptive privileges only for identified patient population.
  • Document in the patients’ medical record all relevant data including but not limited to results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients’ condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with supervising MD.

 

Job Eligibility Requirements

 

Education           

  • Nurse Practitioners:  Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants:  Work requires completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.

 

Certification 

  • BLS required.

 

License                

  • Nurse Practitioners:  Must have current or compact RN licensure & NP approval to practice in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required.
  • Physician Assistants:  Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. BLS required.
  • DEA licensure with full prescriptive authority required.

 

Experience          

  • 1+ years of APP experience preferred

 

 

Job Hours

Monday-Friday, day shift, with flexibility to meet clinic needs
