This is a hands-on field role where you’ll diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure systems operate at peak performance. If you enjoy problem-solving, working independently, and delivering great customer experiences, this is the role for you.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair residential solar systems.
- Perform maintenance and corrective service on solar equipment.
- Install and repair inverter communication systems (cell cards, LAN, hardline connections).
- Respond to service calls and adjust schedules for urgent issues.
- Manage daily appointments to maximize efficiency.
- Communicate clearly with homeowners about system performance and repairs.
- Document work with photos, notes, and system updates.
- Coordinate warranty claims and equipment replacements with manufacturers.
- Follow all safety procedures while working on rooftops and electrical systems.
Equipment You’ll Use
- Electrical testing tools (multimeters, etc.)
- Solar inverters and monitoring systems
- Hand and power tools
- Ladders, fall protection, and rooftop safety equipment
- Service vehicles and diagnostic tools
A Typical Day
- Review your service schedule and plan your route, your route will be planned out in advance
- Stock vehicle with necessary material and equipment
- Travel to customer homes to diagnose and fix system issues
- Perform repairs, replacements, or system updates
- Communicate findings and next steps with homeowners
- Document work and close out service tickets
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of hands-on solar industry experience required, including residential or commercial PV installation, service, troubleshooting, or commissioning
- Strong knowledge of solar electrical systems, components, and best practices; experience in electrical, HVAC, telecom, or other technical field work is a plus
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in solar or related technical environments
- Ability to read and interpret solar plans, electrical diagrams, one-line drawings, and technical specifications
- Comfortable working on rooftops and at heights in varying weather conditions
- Ability to regularly lift and carry 40+ lbs
- Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with homeowners and team members
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
