The Granite Club is looking for a seasonal Summer Active Start Camp Leader who will provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Camp programs and takes on more responsibilities than the counsellors. This permits parents to participate more freely in sports and social activities offered at the Club.

Primary Responsibilities
Safe check in and out.
Express drop off between 8:50am – 9:05am.
Attend and play an active role in regular staff meetings.
Assist children to get ready for activities, ensuring they are on time for activities.
Provide a safe and fun environment for the campers.
Ensure rules are adhered to.
Clean areas at the end of the activity.
Supervise children at lunch and snacks, ensuring children eat their lunch and snacks.
Model positive eating habits and encourage recycling
Creatively develop crafts and ideas for games to follow weekly themes.
Dressing up on dress up days.
Ensure questions and concerns from parents are noted to the supervisor.
Participating in non-instructional activities with children such as swimming, sports, tennis, etc. and encourage participation in these activities
Be a positive role model for children and other counsellors to follow
Encourage participation in activities and be a positive role model for children to follow
Be on time for the shift and ensure you have all materials for the day ready 15 minutes prior to the start of camp.
Administrative tasks such as keeping accurate attendance lists and turning them into the Camp Supervisors at the end of each week.
Be aware of all the information on medical forms such as alternate pick-up people, allergies, and emergency contacts. Always keep this information with you.
Communicate with parents about their child’s day – establish a positive relationship with parents
Ensure the First Aid kit is always up to date and with group.
Post weekly program plans and ensure changes are communicated to parents
Develop a detailed weekly schedule with the team and distribute as required.
Ensure “special requests” are met. (drop off, allergies, etc.)
Provide feedback to your team as necessary
Delegate specific tasks to counsellors as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Grade 12
Valid CPR & Emergency First Aid Required.
A responsible, patient person who must have a genuine love for children.
Experience working with pre-school-aged children would be considered an asset.
Previous experience as a camp counsellor an asset.
Previous experience with one of the following: Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Dance, French, Tennis, Squash, and Badminton is an asset.
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is $19.00
