Junior IT Support

The ALS Northern Europe region is a part of the ALS Group. The sub-region consists of approx. 600 employees with laboratories in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Location: Sollentuna & Danderyd, Sweden

About the Position

Join ALS as a Junior IT Support and play a key role in managing and optimizing our IT infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, improving system functionality, providing remote technical support, ensuring IT compliance, and participating in local and sub-regional IT projects. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for IT, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous professional development.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Record and address incidents/service requests, through our helpdesk system.
  • Oversee, set up, and maintain IT devices for end-users.
  • Actively monitor systems for vulnerabilities and respond promptly to any security incidents.
  • Manage and implement updates for software and hardware.
  • Contribute to a range of IT projects, supporting delivery and implementation. Work closely with other IT teams to ensure cohesive IT operations and project alignment.
  • Maintain and update an inventory of IT components and equipment.
  • Maintain and update IT-related documentation to meet ISO accreditation standards and ensure IT operations comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in budget planning for IT expenditures.
  • Communicate and coordinate with third-party support and vendors.
  • Travel to various locations for on-site resolution of issues not manageable remotely.

About you

Skills and Behaviours:

  • Windows clients and servers (physical and virtual)
  • Experience with virtualization tools such as Hyper-V
  • Helpdesk ticketing systems (ticket lifecycle, ITIL basics)
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear and concise documentation, end-user guides, how-to guides, and technical process guides
  • Proven experience in IT support, preferably in a laboratory or ISO-regulated environment
  • TCP/IP networking - basic principles and active troubleshooting
  • Proven proficiency in mainstream applications, including Microsoft Office
  • Office 365 – knowledge including Teams, Exchange Admin & SharePoint
  • Knowledge of Active Directory
  • Experience working with hardware vendors and 3rd party service providers
  • Motivated to stay updated with IT trends and technologies through continuous learning
  • Strong communication skills with a patient and understanding approach to resolving user issues
  • You are motivated, with a strong drive to excel in your role
  • Proven capability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet demanding deadlines
  • You are a collaborative team player who works well with others
  • Willingness and ability to travel to remote sites for IT service provision and maintenance activities
  • A valid driver’s license is required

Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least 1-3 years of experience as an IT Technician within an enterprise environment
  • Tertiary qualification in IT and/or extensive practical experience
  • Full professional proficiency in English and Swedish is essential.
