Your impact
Reporting to the Superintendent, Mine Projects, in this position you will lead and deliver electrical and multi-disciplinary project scopes within a surface and underground mining environment. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution, aligned with site priorities and operational readiness.
As part of our team you will
- Deliver assigned Sustaining Capital Project (SCP) scopes from planning through execution and handover
- Work closely with SCP project Engineers to align project delivery
- Assist developing scope, schedule, and resource plans aligned to project requirements
- Supervise multi-disciplinary works (electrical, mechanical, minor civil/services)
- Provide technical leadership for all electrical aspects including installation and commissioning
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, statutory requirements, and site procedures
- Manage contractor performance to meet safety, quality, and schedule expectations
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across all scopes
- Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance to ensure minimal disruption and effective handover
- Track progress and highlight any risk to cost and schedule during project delivery.
Prerequisites for your success in the role
- Electrical Trade Qualification (mandatory)
- Northern Territory Electrical Unrestricted Licence (or ability to obtain)
- Proven experience delivering projects within mining or heavy industry environments
- Demonstrated leadership of site based multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong capability in electrical installation, commissioning and fault finding
- Experience coordinating project scopes across large-scale operations
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office and SAP systems
- Competent using planning, scheduling and reporting tools
- Full and unrestricted working rights in Australia.
Your work environment
Newmont has fully owned and operated the Tanami mine since 2002. The mine operates in the remote Tanami Desert of Australia. The mine and plant are located on Aboriginal freehold land that is owned by the Warlpiri people and managed on their behalf by the Central Desert Aboriginal Lands Trust. Tanami is a fly-in-fly-out operation in one of Australia’s most remote locations. Tanami is 270 km from its closest neighbours, the remote Aboriginal community of Yuendumu.
This permanent position will be based on-site at the Tanami Mine Operation in the remote Northern Territory working on a fly in, fly out flexible roster (8:6) from Perth, Darwin, Brisbane or Alice Springs.
Full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia will be essential.
