JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in marketing and business-related courses while supporting student success, academic excellence, workforce development, and community engagement across the College’s service district. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching, the ability to integrate current industry practices into the classroom, and a commitment to fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching a variety of undergraduate marketing and business courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats with a minimum instructional load of 36 semester hours annually.
  • Prepare course syllabi, instructional materials, assessments, and learning activities aligned with institutional and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain and manage course content through the College’s learning management system.
  • Evaluate student performance, maintain accurate records, and submit grades in a timely manner.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours and provide academic advising and mentoring to students.
  • Incorporate innovative instructional technologies and experiential learning opportunities into coursework.
  • Support student retention, persistence, and program completion initiatives.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Serve on departmental, divisional, and college committees and participate in faculty meetings and institutional activities.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, industry partners, and community organizations to support workforce needs and program growth.
  • Participate in recruitment, outreach, and promotional activities for the School of Business.
  • Engage in professional development activities to remain current in the field of marketing and higher education instruction.
  • Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by college administration.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a closely related business discipline from an accredited institution required, including a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Marketing or related business coursework to meet accreditation standards.
  • Professional business and/or marketing industry experience preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience in a college or post-secondary environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary marketing principles including digital marketing, social media marketing, consumer behavior, advertising, branding, and integrated marketing communications.
  • Ability to teach diverse student populations using effective instructional strategies.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Experience using instructional technology and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to integrate real-world business applications into classroom instruction.
  • Commitment to student engagement and active learning practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders.
  • All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
  • Preference shall be given to the following:
    • Doctorate degree in Business Management/Marketing with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Marketing from an accredited institution;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.  Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required.  It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.  IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
