Job Description

Central Academy of Technology & Arts (CATA) is an arts and technology magnet high school in Union County Public Schools serving students in grades 912. Students in the Dance Academy are admitted through an audition-based application process and participate in a rigorous performing arts environment focused on both artistic growth and academic success. The Dance Academy is part of a collaborative performing arts department that includes theatre, vocal music, instrumental music, technical theatre, apparel & design, visual arts, and music production & recording arts. Students participate in a variety of performance opportunities throughout the school year, including concerts, showcases, and musical productions.

We are seeking a dance educator who values both artistic excellence and strong instructional practice. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, structured classroom environment that balances creativity with active teaching, skill development, and high expectations for students. Experience working in rehearsal- and performance-based settings is preferred.

This position requires strong collaboration and communication skills, as the dance teacher works closely with other performing arts faculty during productions and interdisciplinary projects. Candidates should be willing to contribute positively to the culture and visibility of the Dance Academy and the broader performing arts program.

Applicants should submit responses to the supplemental application questions and a PDF portfolio containing rehearsal, instructional, and/or performance samples that reflect their teaching and artistic work.
