As the city’s new icon of luxury and style, Four Seasons provides a pitch-perfect modern take on the quintessential ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) with a range of unique, immersive experiences that deliver a true sense of Japan. From our entire floor of meticulously designed Japanese-inspired guest rooms to our private ofuro (traditional baths), Four Seasons is a contemporary portal to the authentic heart of Osaka, immersing you in the city’s intriguing blend of heritage and modernity.

This is a cluster role based at either Four Seasons Hotel Osaka or Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto, with regular travel required between both properties to ensure strong on-property presence, alignment, and execution.

Positioned in the heart of one of Asia’s most dynamic cities, Four Seasons Hotel Osaka represents a new generation of luxury lifestyle destinations. Blending contemporary design with ryokan-inspired elements, the hotel offers immersive Japanese experiences—from curated guest rooms to private ofuro baths—capturing Osaka’s unique energy, creativity, and cultural depth.

Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto

The 123-room Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is the company’s second destination in Japan, in the city’s historic Higashiyama-ku district, close to the Kyoto National Museum and myriad heritage sites such as the Toyokuni Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. Local artists are featured throughout the traditionally-inspired modern décor characterised by an understated Japanese aesthetic. The Hotel has a spa and fitness centre with a pool, and four food and beverage concepts. There are also be 57 Four Seasons Private Residences.

About Role and Responsibilities:

The Senior Director of Public Relations & Marketing is a strategic and commercially driven leader, responsible for shaping and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies that elevate positioning, strengthen brand equity, and deliver measurable business results.

This role oversees:

  • Public relations and media strategy
  • Reputation management and crisis communications
  • Content, social media, and influencer engagement
  • Digital performance marketing (paid media, SEO, and conversion optimization)

Leveraging market intelligence, consumer insights, and performance data, the role ensures consistency, clarity, and impact across all brand touchpoints.

As a brand steward and trusted advisor, the position works closely with:

  • Property leadership teams
  • Regional and global corporate teams
  • External agencies and partners

to deliver compelling storytelling and high-impact campaigns that resonate with affluent and ultra-high-net-worth audiences.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Positioning

  • Develop and lead integrated PR and Marketing strategies aligned with commercial goals and property priorities
  • Define and maintain clear, differentiated positioning for Kyoto and Osaka, leveraging their distinct identities
  • Identify target audiences, key feeder markets, and seasonal opportunities to drive demand

2. Integrated Marketing & Campaign Execution

  • Lead the planning and execution of the annual marketing and communications calendar
  • Oversee global campaigns, local activations, and F&B-driven initiatives
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality storytelling across all channels

3. Digital & Performance Marketing

  • Drive direct revenue through FourSeasons.com by optimizing digital channel performance
  • Oversee paid media strategy, SEO, and content optimization
  • Apply data-driven planning, testing, and conversion strategies to maximize ROI

4. Commercial & Financial Accountability

  • Partner with the Commercial Director to manage and optimize marketing investment across paid, owned, and earned channels
  • Own budget planning, allocation, and performance tracking within the property P&L
  • Establish clear KPIs and measurement frameworks to evaluate effectiveness
  • Deliver post-campaign analysis and actionable insights

5. Insights, Analytics & Market Intelligence

  • Leverage guest insights, consumer trends, and competitive analysis to inform decision-making
  • Continuously refine strategies based on performance data and evolving market conditions

6. Brand Stewardship & Governance

  • Ensure alignment with global brand standards while maintaining strong local relevance
  • Maximize adoption and impact of global brand initiatives within local and feeder markets

7. Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop PR and Marketing teams across both properties
  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and high performance
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, ownership, corporate teams, and external agencies

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a strategic, creative, and commercially driven marketing leader with a proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced luxury environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in luxury hospitality, lifestyle, or premium brand marketing
  • Proven leadership experience in multi-property or regional roles
  • Strong expertise in digital marketing, performance media, and brand communications
  • Demonstrated ability to drive measurable commercial outcomes
  • Exceptional storytelling and brand-building capabilities
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across diverse, global environments

Language Requirements:

  • Native-level proficiency in Japanese
  • Strong business-level proficiency in English
