JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Manager, Systems Engineering, to provide technical leadership and delivery ownership across complex systems engineering programs. This role is responsible for strengthening systems engineering capability across requirements, architecture/design, integration, verification, validation, configuration/change management, risk management, and lifecycle delivery.

The successful candidate will be expected to operate as a Technical Systems Engineering Leader, with people management focused on coaching, capability development, performance support, and career progression. The role is expected to drive technical governance, system ownership, program execution leadership, and cross-functional decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems engineering delivery across assigned programs and products ensuring strong technical governance across requirements, design, integration, verification, validation, transition, operation, and sustainment
  • Provide technical direction to Systems Engineers working on complex, cross-functional systems involving software, hardware, devices, payments, back-office platforms, APIs, data flows, and operational environments.

  • Drive requirements engineering maturity, including elicitation, decomposition, traceability, validation, and change control.
  • Provide technical leadership for system architecture, high-level design, interfaces, integration, verification, validation, and readiness reviews.
  • Drive system integration readiness across subsystems, interfaces, devices, APIs, data flows, and third-party dependencies.
  • Support verification and validation planning, including test readiness, environment readiness, traceability review, defect triage, production-like validation, and operational acceptance.
  • Partner with Product, Program, Software Engineering, Test, Operations, and customer-facing teams to resolve technical and delivery risks.
  • Establish technical governance mechanisms including requirements reviews, design reviews, integration readiness reviews, defect triage forums, and release readiness checkpoints.
  • Build and mentor a team of Systems Engineers, with focus on developing future technical leaders.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, single points of failure, skill gaps, dependency risks, and program execution challenges.
  • Improve systems engineering processes, templates, metrics, dashboards, and standard ways of working.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in systems engineering, solution engineering, integration, product engineering, or complex technical program delivery.
  • Strong experience in requirements engineering, architecture/design, integration, verification, validation, and change management.
  • Experience with DOORS, JIRA, DevOps, ALM, Confluence, SysML/UML, SQL, APIs, JSON/XML, and integration debugging.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and resolve complex cross-functional engineering issues.
  • Strong understanding of system lifecycle delivery and technical governance.
  • Experience supporting bids, proposals, technical solutioning, effort estimation, and engineering inputs for customer / program pursuits.
  • Experience managing or contributing to engineering budgets, resource planning.
  • Experience working with Program Managers, Product Owners, Software Engineering, Test, Operations, and customer-facing teams.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, coaching, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.

Good-to-Have Qualifications

  • INCOSE ASEP or CSEP certification.
  • Familiarity with INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook, INCOSE Competency Framework, and Systems Engineering Competency Assessment Guide.
  • Experience with Transit systems.
