Job Title: EMS Driver
Department: Emergency Medical Services
Location: Massena
Hours Per Week: per diem
Schedule: 12 hour shift
SUMMARY:
The ambulance operator is responsible to provide high quality emergency transportation to sick and injured patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respond promptly to dispatched calls and provide patient transport support
Perform pre-shift ambulance inspections (fuel, fluids, equipment) and report maintenance needs
Maintain proper inventory and stocking of medical and first aid supplies
Assist patients safely onto stretchers and into/out of the ambulance
Provide basic first aid care (bandaging, splinting, oxygen administration)
Clean, sanitize, and maintain ambulance interior/exterior; properly dispose of medical waste and soiled linens
Accurately document patient transports, mileage, and services in daily driving logs
Communicate and report incident details to medical personnel and law enforcement as needed
Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and readiness of equipment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS required at hire, If not AHA, must obtain AHA BLS within 3 months of hire
Valid Driver's License
High School diploma or GED
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum two years’ driving an ambulance

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
