
Head of Expense Performance Management
Job Description
Responsibilities: Align management expense growth with revenue growth and business momentum
Manage delivery of management expense ratio which forms part of the Company’s STIC target
Critically analyse different impacts of management expense on financial KPIs (including underlying earnings, NB CSM, combined ratio, etc.)
Optimise expense categories (namely distribution, acquisition, claims handling and maintenance) considering their different impacts on different financial KPIs
Propose actions and advise business heads, senior management and other key stakeholders to achieve optimal mix on expense categories to the best fit and interest of the Company
Lead the preparation of annual expense budget and regular forecast, including the end-to-end process and co-ordination across teams; identify gap to target and propose management actions to achieve the expense budget, drive efficiency and expense categorization for optimizing the operating earnings Participate the discussion on company strategy initiatives and ensure the cost savings actions do not affect the delivery of company strategic objectives e.g., improved customer service experience, ability to cope with the volume growth ambition Support the review on financials of business cases for facilitating Project Approval Committee review and approval and ensure the agreed KPIs are properly tracked Perform monthly expense analysis on a timely basis and the underlying drives and proactively propose corrective actions; improve the timeliness and quality of expense management and performance reports Support the governance processes in terms of expense management and performance reporting including expense budget process, management review meetings with EXCOM, expense and efficiency related committees, etc
Collaborate across teams to drive one source of truth in expense management and performance reporting by establishing proper definition of expense and maximizing the use of financial planning and/ or accounting systems/ tools across the company Collaborate within Expense Performance Management team for automation and simplification of manual tasks, promoting self-service platform and facilitate more in-depth analysis Ensure best practice change management is deployed
: University graduate in Accounting/ Finance, preferably with recognized professional
Minimum 8-10 years relevant experience in insurance industry who can bridge up the relationship between management expense and other financial KPIs including but not limited to earnings Experience in leading the preparation of budget, data management and deployment of financial system is preferred In-house experience – support, advice and guidance on delivering significant cost savings at a company level Stakeholder management – ability to quickly build positive relationships across organization Influencing and negotiation capability at a senior executive level Excellent communicator in both written and spoken English Good managerial skills and able to coach his/ her team to success About AXA Hong Kong and Macau AXA Hong Kong and Macau is a member of the AXA Group, a leading global insurer with presence in 52 markets and serving 92 million customers worldwide
