Bioprocessing Scientist

 Biopharmaceutical Operations & Equipment

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot large-scale equipment:
  • Bacterial and viral analytical assays.
  • Titrations
  • ELISA
  • PCR
• Operate automated process controllers and perform cell culture in flasks, bioreactors, and fermenters.

Compliance & Documentation

• Perform all operations in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Write, revise, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Complete required documentation:
• GMP records, timecards, order requisitions, and reports.

Sample & Data Management

• Handle and store samples properly to ensure integrity.
• Collect and analyze process data using:
• Process control systems
• Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Facility & Safety Maintenance

• Clean production areas per SOPs.
• Maintain adequate inventory of supplies.
• Promote and adhere to safety protocols:
• MSDS guidelines, PPE usage, biohazard handling, and safety training.

 Communication & Teamwork

• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
• Communicate effectively across teams using verbal, written, and non-verbal methods.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or other physical sciences
• Authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship
• Hands-on experience or knowledge in:
  • Biopharmaceutical production
  • Cell culture
  • Harvest (centrifugation/filtration)
  • Tangential and normal flow membrane filtration
  • Chromatography
• Familiarity with aseptic techniques

 

Schedule & Location

• Employment Type: Full-time
• Shift: 1st Shift — Monday to Friday
• Hours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM, overtime as needed
• Location: Kalamazoo, MI
