Job Description
This is a highly responsible, autonomous customer service position involving processing customers at the Authority’s nine weigh stations located throughout the County. The employee processes waste disposal transactions and assesses collecting fees based on computer system calculation or estimate. The employee must enter a high volume of transactions, perform mathematical calculations and manage cash with accuracy and speed. The employee manages access and controls traffic entering and leaving the facilities, enters data relied upon by many departments in the Authority, and manages the weigh station with minimal supervision. Work requires collecting customer vehicle data. Requires considerable direct contact with the general public requiring the use of professionalism, diplomacy and the ability to resolve conflicts. The employee must communicate effectively with the public and coworkers. This position reports to the Weighmaster Supervisor and requires reliability, dependability and accountability in all aspects of the defined role. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS includes the following.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Work is performed in a field office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, loud noises and odors. The employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and risk of radiation.
- Responsible for the daily operation of various weigh stations located at solid waste facilities throughout the County without supervision present.
- Punctual and reliable attendance is essential.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions based on established policy and procedure.
- Assess disposal charges based upon established user fee schedules. Collects fees from solid waste facilities users via cash, check, credits accounts or credit card; accurately manage high volume of cash.
- Provide effective customer service to hundreds of customers each day and present a positive image of the Authority to customers.
- Enter accurate data relied upon by numerous Authority departments for reporting (environmental compliance, contractual payments, and financial purposes).
- Enforce regulations and control access to solid waste facilities. Direct vehicles to proper location for disposal.
- Communicate effectively with public and coworkers via email, 2-way radio and phone.
- Balance cash register and prepare daily bank deposits for third party pickup.
- Adapt to flexible schedule (varying locations/days) and frequently changing work schedules.
- May operate automotive vehicles. Light cleaning and maintenance of work areas (empty trash, wipe counters, sweep floors, clean restroom, windows, filing).

- Knowledge of safety rules and safe operating procedures for assigned Authority facility.
- Ability to input data on a computer and perform mathematical computation with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to determine debris type, assess fee or deposit.
- Knowledge of general office equipment (keyboard, computer, calculator, copier, scanner).
- Ability to handle cash transactions with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to provide verbal and written reports.
- Ability to enforce weigh station regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the general public, peers and supervisors; to respond to inquiries and make entries on reports and records.
- Ability to proficiently operate computer-based scale system software.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work Mondays through Saturdays, 10 hours per day, at sites throughout County.
- Ability to think clearly and solve problems quickly.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage high customer volume and handle stressful situations.
- Ability to arrive to work on time is essential.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
- Florida Driver’s License required.
