21st Century Community Learning Program Teacher Positions

Position:

21st Century Summer Program Teacher 
(Temporary - Grant Funded Position)

Reports to:

Building Principal/Site Coordinator

Program Dates & Schedule:

  • Professional Learning (Required):
    • June 29, 2026 (5 ¾ hours): 
  • Student Program Dates (19 Days):
     June 30; July 1, 2
     July 6, 7, 8, 9
     July 13, 14, 15, 16
     July 20, 21, 22, 23
     July 27, 28, 29, 30
  • Schedule:
     Monday–Thursday program schedule (5 ¾ hours per day – includes up to 1 hour planning/week)
  • High School:                Staff 7:15 AM – 1:10 PM | Students 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Middle School:           Staff 9:15 AM – 3:10 PM | Students 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Elementary School: Staff 8:15 AM – 2:10 PM | Students 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM

Salary:

  • $27.18/hour for professional learning and training 
  • $39.76/hour during program hours 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Implementation & Student Engagement

  • Plan and facilitate summer sessions that build student connectedness to school and reinforce academic strategies for success. 
  • Plan and manage entry procedures, transitions, and exit procedures
  • Integrate social-emotional learning (SEL), leadership skills, and positive behavioral supports into programming.
  • Support program development to increase student participation, positive group interactions, and overall academic success.

Student Support & Leadership Development

  • Support students in study skills, goal setting, and academic success strategies
  • Reinforce school expectations and positive decision-making
  • Develop student leadership, responsibility, and interpersonal skills

Community Engagement & Family Partnerships

  • Support family engagement and communication as applicable to the summer program
  • Assist with program events, enrichment activities, and field experiences

Data, Safety, and Compliance

  • Collect and report required program data (attendance, behavior, participation)
  • Supervise students to ensure safety during all program components
  • Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and preparedness

Professional Learning & Summer Programming

  • Participate in required professional learning and planning sessions
  • Collaborate with site coordinators and staff to ensure program consistency
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Site Coordinator, Principal, or District Leadership

Minimum Qualifications

  • Delaware teaching certification (Bachelor's degree or higher).
  • Experience with 21st Century Programming, summer school, or community learning initiatives.
  • Experience tutoring or working with appropriate grade level (HS, MS, ES)
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and foster inclusive, engaging learning environments.

Standard Requirements:

  • Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
  • Tuberculin Test and physical
  • Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
