
Communications Desk Operator
Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Operate the main switchboard/reception area in Building 4 during after-duty hours.
Also included in this position is the expectation that the person in this job will:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Manage switchboard
- Monitor emergency alert panels (SARA System), fire alarms, door alarms, etc.
- Serve as central coordinator in event of a security alarm situation.
- Greet visitors
- Administrative duties
- Communicate facility emergencies to designated Maintenance and Engineering personnel.
- Prepare materials from the Electronic Medical records system for residents who are being transported to the Emergency Department as requested.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Work as needed. This position covers all shifts:

1st shift 8:30 am- 5:00 pm.
2nd shift 4:00 pm- 12:30 am
3rd shift 12:00 am- 8:30 am
This job is a relief position.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- High school graduate preferred; GED acceptable
Experience:
- Experience with switchboard, general office work, and public relations
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for lengthy periods of time
- Capable of providing assistance to persons using walkers and wheelchairs
- Able to quickly respond to emergencies requiring mobility and strength
