Job Description
The Reliability Engineer works under the guidance of senior engineers and established standards, contributing to reliability assessments, maintenance strategy development, and incident investigations. This role is well-suited for an engineer continuing to build depth in reliability engineering while gaining exposure to complex, live operational environments.
Reliability Programs & Asset Care
Support the development and execution of risk‑based maintenance and inspection strategies for mission‑critical power and cooling systems.
Apply RCM concepts to evaluate maintenance effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
Assist in assessing tradeoffs between maintenance activities, operational risk, redundancy, and lifecycle cost.
Participate in PM quality reviews, task validations, and efforts to remove low‑value maintenance.
Operations Support & Change Risk
Review SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs to support operational readiness and risk mitigation.
Assist with system‑level risk assessments for planned work and abnormal operating conditions.
Partner with site teams to improve CMMS data quality and work management discipline.
Support reliability investigations and follow‑up actions under the direction of senior engineers.
Data Analysis & Condition Monitoring
Contribute to condition‑monitoring programs such as oil analysis, thermography, vibration, battery monitoring, and controls analytics.
Analyze equipment performance data to identify early signs of degradation or reliability risk.
Develop basic reliability metrics and trending to support proactive decision‑making.
Translate analytical findings into recommended actions for maintenance or risk reduction.
Critical Spares & Lifecycle Support
Assist in maintaining site and portfolio critical spares recommendations.
Identify spares gaps and support corrective actions with Supply Chain and Operations.
Participate in asset condition assessments to inform lifecycle planning and capital discussions.
Support preparation of data and analysis for capital project justifications.
Incidents, RCA & Continuous Improvement
Participate in RCAs and FMEAs for operational incidents and near misses.
Help identify contributing factors related to design, maintenance, or procedures.
Track corrective actions to ensure lessons learned are implemented and sustained.
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing repeat failures and risk.
Collaboration & Professional Development
Work closely with Senior Reliability Engineers, site engineers, and operations teams.
Build proficiency in reliability methods, root cause analysis, and data interpretation.
Contribute to the improvement of reliability standards, templates, and playbooks.
Continue developing technical and analytical capability within mission‑critical systems.
Qualifications
B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or other related technical field of study) or equivalent industry experience.
3–7 years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or facilities engineering.
Working knowledge of RCM, RCA, and FMEA concepts.
Foundational understanding of mission‑critical infrastructure such as UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, and BMS/EPMS.
Experience supporting maintenance programs or operational risk assessments in live environments.
Ability to analyze CMMS, condition‑monitoring, and operational data to identify trends.
Proficiency with Excel and basic data visualization tools.
Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to present findings to technical and operations teams.
Preferred Experience
Exposure to predictive maintenance or condition‑based monitoring programs.
Familiarity with basic data analysis or scripting tools (Excel advanced functions, Power BI, or similar).
Introductory experience with Python, R, or SQL is a plus.
General familiarity with applicable codes and standards (NFPA, IEEE, ASHRAE).
Work Conditions
Supports 24×7 mission‑critical operations; may support after‑hours activities as needed.
Ability to work safely around energized equipment in compliance with safety procedures.
Travel to supported sites up to approximately 25%.
