Position Overview
The Software Engineer II (Data & Traceability Systems) is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying a full-stack solution that enables data and production traceability across products. This role will focus on building scalable systems that track how components move through the manufacturing lifecycle, ensuring clear visibility into “which part went into which product.”
This is a hands-on engineering role with ownership across backend development, API design, database architecture, and cloud deployment, with a strong emphasis on building secure, reliable, and production-ready systems.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Traceability
- Define and implement data models that support end-to-end production traceability
- Translate manufacturing and business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Ensure accurate mapping of components, assemblies, and finished products
Database Design & Development
- Design and implement robust database schemas to support traceability workflows
- Develop core CRUD functionality for system operations
- Implement data validation, integrity checks, and security controls
API & Application Development
- Develop and maintain API layers (RESTful services) to support system functionality
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms
- Collaborate with front-end teams for seamless application integration
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Develop and deploy applications in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Manage security, access control, patching, and system updates
- Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of cloud-based systems
Testing & Deployment
- Conduct end-to-end system testing to ensure functionality and performance
- Support deployment and ensure production readiness
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the application stack
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in backend or full-stack software development
- Strong experience with:
- Database design (SQL or NoSQL)
- API development (RESTful services)
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with authentication, security, and system integration
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across system layers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with manufacturing systems, traceability, or supply chain data
- Familiarity with data modeling for complex systems
- Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
- Experience working in cross-functional environments (engineering, operations, quality)
