SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER, GRADES K-2
Terms of Employment: 10-month, Full-time Employee
Reports to: Principal, Lower School
Salary: Current Approved Odyssey Charter School CBA Salary Scale

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid, active Delaware Teaching License and appropriate certification in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531
- Successful completion of Praxis II exams
Demonstrated knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Elementary Education
- Experience teaching in an elementary school setting
- Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Experience with data collection and progress monitoring
- Experience implementing research-based interventions in reading and mathematics
- Experience modifying and accommodating curriculum for diverse learners
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities in inclusive or specialized settings
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and support a caseload of students receiving special education services, ensuring access to the general education curriculum through accommodations and modifications outlined in each student's IEP
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction using research-based strategies to address students' academic and functional goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum, align instruction to content standards, and support inclusive practices
- Collect, analyze, and utilize student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals and inform instructional decisions
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment that supports the diverse needs of all students
- Implement appropriate instructional and behavioral supports to ensure equitable access for students with disabilities
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in special education, including IEP development, compliance, and intervention strategies
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress, goals, and support strategies
- Participate in team meetings, including IEP meetings, and collaborate with related service providers and staff
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, records, and reports as required by law and school policy
- Perform other duties as assigned
