Porter
Summary:
The Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role involves transporting equipment, and supplies, as well as assisting with general housekeeping/environmental services duties. The porter ensures that the facility runs smoothly by supporting nursing staff and contributing to the overall cleanliness of the building.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Transportation: Assist with the safe and timely transport of residents within the facility, including to and from appointments, activities, or dining areas.
• Cleaning & Sanitizing: Maintain cleanliness in common areas, hallways, and designated resident areas by following proper sanitation procedures.
• Waste Management: Collect and dispose of waste according to health and safety regulations.
• Laundry Support: Assist in the collection, delivery, and organization of linens and residents' laundry as required.
• Restocking: Monitor and restock essential supplies such as soap, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and towels in resident and staff areas.
• Maintenance Support: Assist with light maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs, minor repairs, or reporting maintenance issues to the appropriate department.
• Adhere to Safety Standards: Follow infection control procedures, health and safety policies, and emergency protocols at all times.
• Assist with Special Events: Help set up rooms for special events, activities, and family visits, ensuring they are safe and comfortable for attendees.
Job Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting or similar role is beneficial but not required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.
• A compassionate and patient attitude towards elderly residents. Physical and Sensory Requirements:
• Ability to lift, move, and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), stand and walk for extended periods, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and data on a computer screen and communicate effectively with employees and other stakeholders.
