Job Summary:

This position provides technical support and leadership in the Experimental Test Lab. The Test Technician provides the hands-on work necessary to accomplish the tasks defined in this job description. 

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Conduct aerospace fluid handing component experimental tests per direction 

  • Construct test set-ups according to test procedures, schematics, written and verbal instruction provided by Test or project Engineers 

  • Align pump test fixtures, drives, etc., plumbing and instrumenting of the test set-ups. 

  • Troubleshoot set-ups, instrumentation (Analog, Digital) and repair 

  • Maintain a clean, safe, well-organized lab area requires sweeping, mopping and movement of equipment such as tanks and instrumentation 

  • Wire a data acquisition system 

  • Make hose and tubing assemblies for set-ups

  • Calibrate flow meters, pressure gauges, thermocouples, electrical meters, frequency counters, temperature readouts and other instrumentation as required 

  • Fabricate test set-up components requiring the making of orifice assemblies, shims, drilling and taping holes, brazing, etc. 

  • Test Stand maintenance requiring electrical wiring of pressure switches and instrumentation panels 

  • Set-up control panels, explosion proof boxes and instrumentation systems, temporary in nature 

  • Maintenance of test lab instrumentation; Movement of equipment between lab cells 

  • Procurement of lab supplies per assigned responsibilities 

  • Fill out appropriate lab paperwork as required 

  • Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management 

 

Non-Essential Functions: 

  • Provides technical support of bid packages when required 

  • Mentor and train junior technicians, as needed 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Experience: 7 years’ experience in a similar or related testing environment. 

  • Knowledge: Knowledge in electronics (instrumentation), computer, data acquisition systems, and hydraulics. 

  • Skill: Welding, brazing, pipe/tubing bending.  Proficiency with PC computers 

  • Ability: Ability to modify computer data acquisition and control programs. 

  • Education/Certification: Associate Degree or equivalent experience in an electrical/electronic or mechanical curriculum 

  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment 

  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE 

  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes 

  • Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
