Reporting to the Director, Global Procurement, the Lead Buyer – New Product Development is responsible for leading sourcing and procurement activities supporting highly complex new product development programs across Videojet’s global organization. The successful candidate will partner closely with Engineering, R&D, Commodity Management, Operations, and Suppliers to support sourcing strategy, supplier qualification, production readiness, and launch execution for innovative technologies and engineered products. This role requires strong stakeholder management, sourcing ownership, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams within fast-paced development environments. This role is based in Lübeck, Germany, with a hybrid work arrangement, and requires a willingness and ability to travel to Selmsdorf as needed to support close collaboration with technical and operational stakeholders.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Lead sourcing and procurement activities supporting New Product Development programs from early-stage design through launch.

  • Drive supplier selection, qualification, onboarding, and sourcing readiness for technically complex manufacturing projects.

  • Partner closely with Engineering and R&D teams to align sourcing decisions with product innovation goals and launch requirements.

  • Support sourcing strategy development, supplier capability assessments, and risk mitigation initiatives.

  • Negotiate commercial agreements and supplier terms supporting long-term sourcing objectives.

  • Collaborate with Commodity Managers, Operations, and global stakeholders to support production readiness and supply continuity.

  • Manage supplier relationships and sourcing milestones across multiple active programs simultaneously.

  • Support total cost optimization and sourcing decisions within highly collaborative project environments.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain roles within manufacturing or product development environments.

  • Direct experience supporting New Product Development (NPD/NPI) programs.

  • Experience with supplier selection, qualification, onboarding, and commercial negotiations.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Engineering and technical stakeholders.

  • Experience sourcing technically complex or engineered products.

  • Professional fluency in both German and English.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Aerospace, automation, industrial equipment, electronics, medical devices, or advanced manufacturing industries.

  • Commodity management or strategic sourcing initiatives.

  • ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP.

  • Supplier development or supplier performance management.

  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.

  • High-mix / low-volume manufacturing environments.
