Manager - Strategic Project Development (Power Systems/Asset Management)
Job Description
Contract period: 2-year/Permanent
Applications are invited for the above vacancy in Strategic Development (New Metropolises) Branch of Asset Management Department. Reporting to Senior Manager - Strategic Development (New Metropolises), the appointee will be mainly responsible for developing the new distribution network and enabling the integration of distributed generation resources. The appointee will be responsible for accountabilities including but not limited to the following:
- Formulate strategies to drive and develop new distribution networks, identify system enhancement or new solutions and enable the integration of distributed energy generation such as electric vehicle charging, solar generation, battery system and data center.
- Coordinate with other technical managers in Regions and Asset Management on new distribution planning and design standards, as well as arrange communication and sharing on new equipment and standards with other operation staff.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Regions Planning & Design, Construction, Operations, CLP Power Learning Institute and CLP Power HSEQ, to drive the transition, assessment and adoption of new distribution system. Take lead in implementing the transition plan and ensure it is in a good and coordinated approach.
- Communicate and engage with customers, utilities, government officials, developers and consultants as well as coordinate with Regions’ engineers to execute new distribution network in new metropolises and realize its benefits.
- Lead and coordinate with internal stakeholders to perform regular implementation progress review. Formulate contingency and risk-mitigation plan and drive the transformation in distribution network.
- Define new distribution asset requirements, prepare technical specifications, undertake tender evaluation, review suppliers’ proposals as well as ensure compliance with ordinances, planning policies and other statutory requirements.
- Devise optimal solutions for new distribution network to meet business Design-to-Value objective, as well as realize benefits in supply resiliency and pave the path for smart grid development.
- Act as subject matter expert and coordinate with CLP Power Learning Institute to share the new distribution network design, organize necessary training, uplift knowledge and skills in different trades of Regions, System Operation and other technical departments.
- Formulate replacement strategies and plans for major transmission and distribution assets.
Requirements:
- A recognized university degree or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering or science discipline
- A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in electricity supply industry
- Possession of corporate membership or qualification from recognized engineering institute is an advantage
- Knowledge in transmission / distribution system, with familiarity with project implementation process as well as operation and maintenance. Experience in network / operational planning or commissioning is an advantage
- Proven leadership, interpersonal, project planning and management skill
- Ability to communicate effectively with different levels, both internally and externally
- Mindful and has good awareness on risk and change management
- Ability to work under pressure and be rationale and decisive under all situations
- Familiarity with CLP Power Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules and relevant safety procedures, policy, engineering standards and codes of practice
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
Candidates with less qualification and/or experience but demonstrate good potential for further development will be considered for a position at lower grade.
