Pay: $72.25/hr.

*Pay rates listed reflect the full rate for this position, including both the base pay and health and welfare benefits in accordance with applicable requirements. Pay is based on numerous factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS


Position Overview: In this role, you will provide advanced medical care, clinical assessments, and treatment services to residents within the detention facility while working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, behavioral health personnel, and security staff. You will evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions while ensuring healthcare services are delivered in accordance with government detention standards, clinical protocols, and applicable healthcare regulations. This position requires strong clinical judgment, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and secure correctional healthcare environment while maintaining high standards of patient care and medical documentation.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct medical evaluations, physical assessments, and diagnostic reviews for residents presenting with acute illnesses, chronic conditions, injuries, or medical concerns.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe medications, order diagnostic testing, and provide follow-up care within the approved scope of practice and facility protocols.
  • Review laboratory results, medical histories, imaging reports, and healthcare documentation to support accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, urgent healthcare situations, and resident wellness concerns while providing appropriate clinical intervention and stabilization.
  • Coordinate medical care with physicians, nurses, behavioral health personnel, specialists, pharmacy staff, and outside healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation, treatment records, prescription information, clinical notes, and healthcare reports in accordance with HIPAA requirements and facility standards.
  • Monitor resident health conditions and provide ongoing management for chronic illnesses, medication needs, recovery plans, and follow-up treatment requirements.
  • Participate in intake screenings, medical clearances, healthcare assessments, and wellness evaluations for newly admitted residents.
  • Ensure compliance with government detention standards, infection prevention procedures, healthcare regulations, and facility operational policies.
  • Maintain professionalism, effective communication, and sound clinical judgment while interacting with residents, healthcare personnel, detention staff, and outside agencies.


Qualifications:

  • Must possess an Arizona Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Must possess a valid CPR/BLS certification.
  • Must possess one (1) year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.


Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.


Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
