POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS


Position Overview: In this role, you will oversee the clinical healthcare operations of the detention facility while managing medical providers, behavioral health personnel, nursing staff, and healthcare support services. You will be responsible for ensuring residents receive safe, effective, and compliant healthcare services in accordance with government detention standards, clinical protocols, healthcare regulations, and company policies. This position requires strong clinical leadership, operational oversight, decision-making abilities, and the ability to manage complex healthcare operations within a secure detention environment while maintaining high standards of patient care, professionalism, and regulatory compliance.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily clinical healthcare operations including medical services, behavioral health support, nursing activities, treatment planning, and resident healthcare coordination.
  • Supervise healthcare personnel including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, behavioral health staff, and clinical support personnel while supporting staffing, scheduling, and performance management activities.
  • Ensure all healthcare services comply with government detention standards, HIPAA requirements, infection prevention procedures, clinical guidelines, and applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Review clinical documentation, treatment plans, incident reports, medication records, and operational healthcare reports for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
  • Coordinate resident medical evaluations, emergency healthcare response activities, specialty referrals, hospitalization procedures, and continuity of care services.
  • Respond to complex medical situations, healthcare emergencies, operational concerns, and clinical issues requiring leadership oversight or decision-making.
  • Support audits, inspections, accreditation reviews, mortality reviews, and compliance assessments related to detention healthcare operations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies, operational procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and healthcare performance standards.
  • Coordinate communication between healthcare staff, detention leadership, transportation personnel, outside providers, and government representatives regarding resident healthcare operations.
  • Monitor healthcare staffing levels, medical supply inventories, pharmaceutical accountability, and clinical operational readiness to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.
  • Prepare operational reports, healthcare summaries, staffing updates, compliance documentation, and performance metrics for facility leadership and executive management review.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, strong leadership, and sound clinical judgment while supporting safe, secure, and effective healthcare operations within the detention facility.


Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from a university in the United States, any of its’ territories or from a foreign medical school that provides education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States as established by the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation and permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
  • Must possess a minimum of six (6) years post residency experience providing direct patient care as a board-certified / eligible physician in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Preventive Health or Pediatrics.
  • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the provision of clinical supervision and leadership to other medical professionals and ancillary clinic staff.
  • Must maintain current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine for the entirety of the employment term in the state of Arizona.
  • Must possess an Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration for controlled substances.
  • Must maintain a CPR/BLS certification.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.


Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.


Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
