Hong Kong Work Experience Student

Are you currently studying for the first year of your law degree and thinking about taking steps towards a fulfilling career with an international law firm? Or are you a high school student that is interested to learn about a career in law? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

Our exciting work experience placements offer a valuable insight into working in a professional services environment, where you'll gain exposure to a wide range of legal or business areas, working alongside our award-winning, supportive, and friendly teams. 

Our clients include many of the world's leading financial institutions, corporations, public organisations, private equity houses and investment funds, as well as ultra-high net worth individuals and family offices. We routinely work in partnership with the most prestigious international legal and accountancy firms.

Duration of our Work Experience Scheme

The placements are for a duration of any one week during July to September.

Key Responsibilities

By joining our Work Experience Scheme, you will have the opportunity to work in our various practice groups including Funds, Corporate, Banking & Finance, Litigation, as well as Corporate Services and Business Development and Marketing.

As a work experience student, you will be given work ranging from legal research, drafting, attending client meetings, you will be supervised by our lawyers and specialists from different areas.

Other than work shadowing, you will have the opportunity to attend our internal training programmes, such as Offshore 101 (providing introductory training in offshore law) and Share Your Knowledge (i.e. practical training session delivered by our very own specialists on specific areas of law and legal issues). We are flexible and willing to tailor the structure of the programme towards your needs, so you can gain experiences

Duration: Our work experience placement is of 1-week duration (July to September), please indicate your preferred date when submit your application.

You will received an email acknowledgement after you have successfully submitted your application online.

1st Interview: If the application is shortlisted, the applicant will be invited for a first-round interview (in person or by Teams) by HR, which is a 15-30-minute interview to know more about your experience and reason for your interest in our work experience placement.

2nd interview: After the first interview, application will be further shortlisted for a second interview (in person or by Teams) by a partner of our HK office.

Offer: Successful applicant will be notified by email; we will confirm the dates of the work experience placement via email.

Offer letter will be sent to the successful applicant by email.

Documents needed before start of placement:

If your application is successful and you are offered a place, we will need the following documents before the start of your placement:

1. Confirmation of student status for work experience student under the Minimum Wage Ordinance (Cap.608) to be signed by your school with sample at the following link:

2. Statutory declaration made by a work experience student for a period of exempt student employment with sample found at the following link:

3. Letter of consent from one of the parents / guardians of students (applicable to high school students only)

4. A copy of your HKID card.
