Job Summary
The CRNA is an advanced practice Registered Nurse that is an active member of the Anesthesia team who can practice autonomously and under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. Delivers professional anesthesia services and support that is consistent with the strategic vision, goals, philosophy, and direction of the healthcare system. Provides care for patients at all acuity levels across the lifespan in a variety of settings for procedures including, but not limited to, surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic and pain management. Provides continuous vigilant observation of patients by monitoring the patient's physical reaction to sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetic agents and can treat any effects that these therapies may cause. Informs and asks for assistance from the supervising anesthesiologist for any adverse condition that may potentially threaten the safety of the patient under their care. Responsible for anesthesia equipment set up that is required prior to delivering patient care.
Qualifications
- BSN Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs or its predecessor Required
- 1-3 years Previous experience as a CRNA preferred but recent graduate of an approved program will be considered.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Demonstrates current competency in clinical responsibilities.
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists Required and
- Registered Nurse New York - New York State Board of Nursing Required and
- BLS - American Heart Association Required
- ACLS Required
- PALS Required
