Description of Work

This position will report directly to the Warden III at Lumberton Correctional Institution and will be responsible for ACA accreditation and PREA audits at their assigned facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Responsible for providing hands on guidance and assistance to the section heads within the assigned facility, regarding ACA and PREA audits, and for providing technical guidance to the Wardens.
- Coordinating internal compliance audits, safety and health audits, facility inspections, and regional inspections, as well as ensuring all standard operating procedures and post orders comply with audit standards and division policy.
- Serving as the coordinator for monitoring the strategic plan and key performance indicators, including serving as the Facility Public Information Officer.
- Working collaboratively with other Prison section heads including, but not limited to, the Warden, the Region Director, The Region Compliance Manager, The Division Audit Administrator, The Director of Performance and Standards, and other Division Directors, to develop strategies for enhancing prison operations by using the results of operational audits and other measures developed by this section.

Salary Range: $47,703 - $83,479

  • Extensive knowledge of prison operations, state, and federal regulations and laws governing assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Extensive knowledge of performance audit procedures, standards, and emerging practices.
  • Extensive knowledge and application of federal PREA regulations, laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Extensive experience working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC12.  State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.  If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase May result.

About the Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

About Lumberton Correctional Institution:

Lumberton Correctional Institution is located in Lumberton, North Carolina and houses up to 834 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
