About the Role

 

Introduction –

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to shape and drive the sales strategy for the East Uttar Pradesh market within Oxford University Press’s School Education business. As a Senior Area Manager, Sales, you will lead a team and play a pivotal role in delivering regional business outcomes.

This role represents a strong step forward for experienced sales professionals looking to move into strategic and people leadership positions. It offers the opportunity to influence territory-wide performance while contributing to a purpose-driven organization committed to enhancing learning outcomes and supporting the education ecosystem.

The role is particularly interesting as it combines strategic planning, team leadership, and hands-on involvement in both print and blended/digital product sales. You will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams while building strong partnerships across schools and distribution networks.

 

Opportunity –

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies and implementation plans for print, blended, and digital products across the region
  • Lead, guide, and mentor a team of sales professionals to achieve regional sales targets
  • Support the team in delivering both print and blended product targets and ensure alignment with business goals
  • Profile potential schools across territories to ensure comprehensive market coverage
  • Strengthen relationships with existing schools to drive deeper engagement and higher product adoption
  • Drive acquisition of new schools and support high-value customer engagements along with the team
  • Build team capability by enhancing product knowledge and sales skills
  • Allocate territories, define targets, and ensure adherence to organizational systems, policies, and tools (such as i-Track, Happay, and OP)
  • Review and monitor team travel, expenses, and operational activities
  • Plan and execute marketing initiatives, workshops, and promotional activities within approved budgets
  • Ensure timely collections, uninterrupted product supply, and efficient execution of collection processes
  • Manage stock availability across distribution channels and forecast inventory requirements accurately
  • Analyze market trends and provide regular insights to leadership for strategic decision-making
  • Uphold and enhance OUP’s brand image through ethical business practices and professional conduct

About You

 

Essential Criteria

 

  • A strong academic background with a degree from a reputed institute
  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant work experience
  • Proven ability to manage or lead sales teams effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound decision-making ability based on data and analysis
  • High level of integrity, ownership, and results orientation

  • Additional professional qualifications
  • Prior experience in the education or publishing industry
  • Strong understanding of sales strategy, market dynamics, and team leadership
