Your role at a glance
The Mechanical Engineer is a seasoned subject matter expert responsible for the project execution, and commissioning of complex, mission critical data centre projects, leading mechanical system construction and design requirements from inception through completion. The role provides technical expertise across multiple projects and cross functional teams, overseeing mechanical procurement, TDS and shop drawing approvals, installation, testing and commissioning activities including SAT and IST, and ensuring compliance with applicable mechanical codes and standards, with strong experience in hyperscale data centres, HVAC systems, power backup DGs, and overall data centre systems and operations.What we are looking for
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Review and approve project schedules aligned to client requirements and NTT programs and standards.
Plan and execute assigned construction projects across pre‑construction, construction, and post‑construction phases.
Ensure all project information checklists, pre‑planning tools, documentation, project execution plans, risk registers, and project directories are complete and maintained.
Schedule and conduct pre‑construction and regular project site meetings with relevant internal and external stakeholders to identify, track, and resolve project issues and risks.
Monitor implementation services from permitting through project closure, including site mobilization, subcontractor scheduling, construction execution, material quality, and adherence to approved plans.
Ensure all construction plans and material specifications are reviewed, value‑engineered where applicable, and approved by the client prior to execution.
Manage environmental, health, and safety programs at project sites, including safety guidelines, toolbox talks, safety orientations, and mitigation of unsafe practices that may impact schedules.
Prepare and submit weekly project reports covering schedules, dependencies, risks, issues, escalations, and delays.
Track and validate subcontractor scope completion, quality compliance, and readiness to support punch listing and client handover.
Ensure project milestones are achieved as per contract provisions and prepare accurate statements of accounts and settlements.
Manage and compile all handover documentation, including as‑built drawings, specifications, manuals, and warranty certificates, and support issuance of the Certificate of Completion.
Design standard mechanical equipment sizing, specifications, and creative solutions to mechanical issues arising during design and operations of mission‑critical systems.
Conduct QA/QC reviews of designs and documentation, including construction drawings and commissioning test scripts.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, engineers, and commissioning agents to support testing, validation, and performance of mechanical and building systems.
Participate in factory witness testing, troubleshooting activities, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and engineering calculations or studies as required.
Perform other related project and engineering tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Seasoned knowledge of mechanical equipment including air‑cooled chillers, pumps, water treatment systems, HVAC equipment, CRAC units, building management and industrial PLC control systems, air handling equipment, valves, piping, ductwork, storm and sanitary drainage, and industrial and domestic water systems.
Seasoned competence in energy, fluid flow, heat transfer, and psychrometric calculations including sensible and latent loads, approach temperature, NPSH, pump and fan affinity laws, pressure loss, kW/Ton, EER, IPLV, and system state points.
Strong understanding of control methods and hardware including signal types, data communication protocols for building automation and control networks, actuator types, failure modes, SCADA, and control tuning methods.
Seasoned knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and regulations including ASHRAE, ASME, IBC, NFPA, OSHA, life safety standards, environmental, health, and safety requirements, and local regulatory codes.
Advanced problem‑solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills with the ability to perform complex data trending, tracking, and analysis.
High personal standards for delivering thoughtful, polished, and high‑quality work products with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong team orientation with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
Ability to efficiently prioritize work and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Seasoned proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Project.
Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar field required.
Professional Engineering certification required.
Experience in the data center industry
Required Experience:
Overall professional experience of 10–15 years in a relevant engineering
Minimum 6 years of mechanical lead role experience working with Data Center environments.
Seasoned experience preferably in a data center environment or critical environment
(hospital, power plant, etc.).
Seasoned experience with large scale technical operations.
Seasoned experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling.
Seasoned experience in SHRAE TC 9.9 publications including PUE, ASHRAE.
Advanced experience relating to recommended Temperature and Humidity Limits,
Data Centre Controls, Containment.
Seasoned demonstrated experience with system sequence(s) of operation for complex systems
with multiple functions.
Seasoned operating engineering experience with large mechanical systems including BMS
trending, off-normal operation, and transient analysis.
