
Senior Accountant (Contract)
Job Description

Makeready is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of our growing collection of hotels, restaurants, retail, and home office functions. This is a temporary contract position that is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong accounting controls, supporting month-end close, and partnering with property and corporate leaders to provide timely and meaningful financial information.
Requested Tasks
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
- Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure outstanding items are researched and resolved timely.
- Review general ledger activity for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal reporting packages.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and explain variances to budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for all assigned accounts.
- Provide accounting support and guidance to property leaders as needed.
- Assist with intercompany transactions, allocations, and reconciliations.
- Support cash management processes, including bank reconciliations and cash reporting.
- Assist with reviewing property-level accounting activity to ensure compliance with Makeready standards
- Assist with audit preparation, including gathering documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and company records.
- Support tax, licensing, and regulatory reporting needs as assigned.

Requested Capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
- Hospitality, hotel, restaurant, real estate, or multi-unit accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting tools required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office products.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both finance and operational leaders.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; BI tool experience a plus (ProfitSword, Vena,PMS, POS, Sales systems).
