ROLE PURPOSE

Key duties & responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of a diverse and complex client portfolio, ensuring all deadlines, deliverables, and service standards are consistently met
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted strategic advisor
  • Proactively identify opportunities to add value, drive efficiencies, and support clients’ business growth
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of accounting and advisory assignments, ensuring work is completed efficiently, within budget, and to a high standard
  • Review and sign-off financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards (including FRS 102 1A)
  • Provide clear, timely, and commercially focused responses to client queries
  • Lead and deliver complex advisory projects, providing practical, commercially driven solutions
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and accounting standards, interpreting and communicating impacts to clients and the wider team
  • Act as a key point of contact for external stakeholders (e.g. legal and financial advisors)
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members, fostering a high-performance and collaborative team culture
  • Delegate work effectively, ensuring development opportunities are maximised while maintaining delivery quality
  • Provide technical guidance and act as a senior escalation point for the team
  • Play a key role in the operational leadership of the team, supporting planning, resource allocation, and workflow management
  • Drive the achievement of financial targets, including utilisation, recovery, and revenue growth
  • Contribute to the strategic development and growth of the department, including process improvement and service innovation


Experience & qualifications


Skills & Experience
  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent), operating at a Senior Manager level
  • Strong experience managing a client portfolio within a practice environment, including complex or high-value clients
  • Proven ability to lead service delivery across accounts, compliance, and advisory work
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at senior levels
  • Highly experienced in reviewing accounts and providing technical oversight
  • Confident in the use of cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero) and adoption of new technologies
  • Demonstrable experience leading, mentoring, and developing teams
  • Strong commercial awareness with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
