POSITION SUMMARY:

The Athletics Communication Manager assists with developing and supervising the execution of communication programs and may supervise personnel and/or other resources in support of athletics communication goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with managing the day-to-day operations of the athletics communication unit to align with strategic initiatives and to meet established objectives

  • Assist with planning, writing, and editing content for various internal and external stakeholders, including press releases, game stories, game previews and feature stories

  • Assist with developing, implementing, and delivering communication materials through various mediums to designated audiences, including the athletic department website, livestream broadcast, social media and printed materials

  • Assist with planning and directing unit programs and/or projects to ensure adherence to deadlines and budgets

  • Assist with identifying, proposing, and implementing new or revised operational policies and procedures

  • Assist in compiling, distributing, and archiving statistics

  • Assist with communication and reporting requirements with the NCAA, WIAC and intercollegiate opponents

  • Assist in recruiting, training and managing student staff

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required

    • Two years’ experience in intercollegiate athletic communications/sports information

    • Experience with Microsoft Office, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite applications, Sidearm or Presto web platforms, NCAA LiveStats, Stat Crew, Automated Scorebook and various social media platforms

    • Strong written and oral communication skills

    • Knowledge base of the playing and statistical rules for UWRF’s 20 varsity intercollegiate sports

    • Ability to meet deadlines and work nights/weekends

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree preferred.

    • Degree in communications, journalism, sports management or related field preferred.
