Job Description

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for providing strategic HR leadership and supporting business objectives in the areas of recruiting, employee relations, compensation, benefits, payroll oversight, compliance, training, and development. This role serves as a key partner to leadership by ensuring efficient HR operations, strong associate support, and compliance with company policies and Nevada employment laws.

Specific and Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for all HR information in the ADP system, including inputting hires, terminations, rate changes, job changes, process improvements, and maintaining all HR metrics and reporting.
  • Thoroughly reviews payroll prior to submission to Finance to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper approvals.
  • Once payroll is approved, runs and prepares detailed hotel payroll reports for OYO management outlining labor costs, payroll summaries, and related financial data.
  • Runs biweekly reports to ensure management has updated employee, labor, and payroll data for operational and business decision-making.
  • Review all Disciplinary Action Forms (DAFs) for accuracy, consistency, policy compliance, and appropriate documentation; provides recommendations to leadership regarding corrective action, employee relations concerns, and risk mitigation prior to final approval.
  • Creates Purchase Orders (POs) for department and operational needs, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and timely submission for payment processing.
  • Maintains and updates the checkbook/log to ensure Finance has accurate records and all necessary documentation to process vendor payments, invoices, benefits billing, workers’ compensation payments, and other HR-related expenses.
  • Identifies opportunities to create and implement programs that improve the effectiveness of the HR department. Manages HR team on system upgrades, data loads, testing, and implementation of new systems.
  • Oversees requisitions, recruitment, onboarding, and new hire processes for all departments.
  • Reviews, assigns, and tracks required training for departments to ensure compliance and completion of company and operational training programs.
  • Develops training materials and provides training as necessary, including new hire orientation, customer service training, Circle of Service training, and leadership support.
  • Maintains integrity of company HR data through regular audits, troubleshooting irregularities, and correcting discrepancies in partnership with the IT department.
  • Designs, maintains, and distributes management information reports, extracts data for annual reports, and supports executive leadership with reporting and analytics.
  • Responsible for all compliance reporting, including labor law compliance, audits, employment records, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Manages monthly health insurance billing, reconciliation, enrollment reporting, and benefit administration.
  • Oversees workers’ compensation reporting, claim filing with carriers, follow-up, and billing reconciliation.
  • Maintains full administration and oversight of 401(k) plans, including plan administration and employee support.
  • Assists with employee relations matters, investigations, policy interpretation, corrective actions, and resolution of employee concerns.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with Managers concerning all Associate and applicant-related issues, problems, and solutions.
  • Interacts with Associates, leadership, and vendors in a professional, positive, and service-oriented manner.
  • Supports Front HR Desk responsibilities and ensures a high level of employee service and responsiveness.
  • Assists with policy development, implementation, process improvements, and other HR-related duties as assigned.

  • ADP HR/Payroll System, Signature (background); E-Verify
  • Multi-line phone, PC, fax machine, laser printer, printer, copier, scanner

Education, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or at least 3 -4 years equivalent experience working in an HR office as a manager or above.
  • Experience working in Nevada and complete understanding of Nevada laws.
  • Working knowledge of workers compensation, group health insurance benefits, 401(k) plan, computer programs.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred

Required Cards:

  • Documents that establish identity and right to work in the United States. 
  • Nevada Gaming Control Board registration required.
