Summary Malibu is the world’s leading towboat manufacturer and now looking for an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join their Product Development Engineering team. This position will perform electrical engineering duties to support both New Product Engineering and Product Development in the continuous improvement of the Malibu product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage new product design and continuous improvement of in-boat electrical systems and operating systems.
- Develop software requirements for boat operating systems and HMI
- Confer with management, production, sales, and purchasing to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
- Develop and maintain technical drawings and specifications.
- Assume the lead engineering role on multiple assigned projects including operating systems, switches, sensors, CAN enabled devices and other powered systems.
- Responsible for the preparation and daily management of estimates, cost reports, and project schedules for multiple projects and suppliers
- Regularly identify opportunities for product and designs improvements to enhance the form, fit, and function of current and new designs.
- Establish validation standards, develop testing protocols, and document test results for electrical and supporting mechanical systems. Direct and coordinate supplier compliance with specifications.
- Use engineering and computer design software, specifically AutoCAD, NX, and SolidWorks.
- Ensure proper cross-departmental coordination and effective communication of all assigned projects.
- Develop and direct test scopes involving multiple supplier interactions and facilitate integrated test plans for in-boat field testing.
- Support Production and Customer Service teams with electrical troubleshooting.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited University or Equivalent Level of Education plus Experience .
Experience: 5+ years of experience in Product Design, Electrical Systems Design, or Vehicle Operating Systems and Controls.
Language Skills: English required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical Skills:
Will use mathematics to solve problems, up to the algebraic level.
Technical Qualifications:
Experience with AutoCAD required
Experience with 3D modeling software required
Experiences in 3D modeling with NX preferred
Experience in developing wiring harness schematics required
Experience with CAN Bus Systems preferred
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite required
Knowledgeable in NMMA, SAE, NMEA, and IEEE standards preferred
Boating experience preferred
