Job Description
Essential Job Function
- Evaluates and treats all diagnoses and more complex patients.
- Conducts comprehensive evaluations of patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to analyze their communication and oral motor skills.
- Participates in the development and implementation of evidence-based, personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patients' goals, and individual needs.
- Educates patients and their families on treatment plans, home exercises, and self-management techniques to improve recovery outcomes.
- Monitors and documents patients' progress, treatment outcomes, and responses to interventions so that treatment plans can be adjusted as needed.
- Collaborates with other in developing and implementing discharge plans and recommendations for continued care.
- Reports progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family members or medical professionals.
- Assists with orientation and training of new staff, demonstrates an ongoing commitment to improve the performance and skill of co-workers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology.
Experience
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
