Job Purpose
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of electrical and systems engineers.
- Serve as the company-wide Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical engineering-related topics providing cross-functional support.
- Lead and review power system studies including short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash hazard analysis, grounding, harmonics, and load flow studies using tools such as ETAP or equivalent.
- Establish electrical design standards, best practices, and design-for-safety guidelines across projects.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEC, UL, IEEE, utility requirements, and AHJ expectations).
- Be a mentor and technical leader. You’ll not only lead projects but also nurture the growth of the engineers around you, helping them thrive both professionally and technically.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Direct and oversee electrical engineering activities across the full project lifecycle: concept, design, manufacturing, commissioning, and field support.
- Lead the design and review of LV and MV electrical distribution systems (up to 1000V AC and up to 1500V DC).
- Oversee specification, selection, and application of electrical equipment including power electronics, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, relays, meters, cabling, busbars, and protection devices.
- Coordinate with mechanical, controls, firmware, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure integrated system solutions.
- Review and approve electrical schematics, layouts, harness designs, bills of material (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation.
- Provide executive-level oversight and technical guidance for commissioning activities, testing, and validation of electrical systems.
- Support construction and commissioning teams to quickly resolve critical electrical issues in the field.
- Ensure commissioning procedures, test plans, and reports align with design intent, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Champion electrical safety programs, safe work practices, and arc flash risk mitigation across projects and sites.
- Act as the primary electrical technical interface for customers, utilities, independent engineers, vendors, and jurisdictional authorities.
- Communicate complex electrical topics clearly to internal leadership, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Support customer requirements review, project risk assessments, and technical proposal development.
Travel required: On Demand to support manufacturing facilities, project sites, and customer locations.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of experience of progressive electrical engineering experience in power systems, energy storage, EV charging, or industrial power applications.
- 5+ years of experience leading and managing teams.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience performing and reviewing arc flash calculations and power systems studies
- Strong understanding of grounding systems, protection philosophy, and electrical safety principles.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, commissioning, and field deployment of electrical systems.
- Experience in power electronics development and deployment.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
