
Patient Access Specialist
Job Description
Essential Job Function:
- Utilizes tools and resources to perform responsibilities accurately and efficiently, including documentation of requests and responses to ensure accuracy in the clinical, employee, regulatory and/or financial record, as defined by job scope.
- Collect patient demographic data, obtain insurance information, and verify eligibility and benefits.
- Collect patient financial liability at time of service.
- Meets productivity requirements to ensure excellent service is provided to customers.
- Identifies patient needs by asking questions to interpret, analyze and anticipate the patient situation in order to resolve problems, route requests or initiate emergency dispatch, utilizing effective customer service skills.
- Demonstrates a willingness and ability to work collaboratively with others for concise and timely flow of information.
- Communicates issues or potential issues involving customer service and process improvement opportunities to management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Required: 1 year experience in patient access, or a similar healthcare administrative role.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Preferred: Certification in healthcare administration or medical office management (e.g. Certified Healthcare Access Associate – CHAA).
