Ideal for students who have begun gaining relevant experience and are building their skills through internships, part-time jobs, or significant projects. Typically aimed at sophomores or juniors who have completed a combination of introductory and advanced coursework.ᅟ
Provides coaching, encouragement, practical advice, and objective feedback to clients on applying concepts, skills, or strategies during the mentee's first semester associated with successful adaptation to university life and the practice of academic English in the EIL Program.
Primary Responsibilities
Explain the behavioral expectations of practitioners within a discipline or profession to clients
Assist with client mastery of processes needed for successful adaptation to the university
Observe client mastery/practice of the skills, attitudes, and knowledge within a discipline or profession, especially in academic English language
Offer suggestions or advice about improving client performance
Performs other duties as assigned
Education
200-level university course completion preferred; completion of introductory TESOL of Linguistics courses helpful
Work Experience
6 Months of Directly Relevant Experience
Physical Demands
Typical classroom environment, face-to-face individual meetings with clients
Base Rate Per Hour:
