Position Overview:
We are seeking a Buyer/Planner to play a critical role in ensuring materials, components, and services are available to support production and operational goals. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with suppliers, optimize purchasing processes, and contribute directly to business success through strategic planning and procurement excellence.
As a Buyer/Planner, you will be responsible for managing the procurement and planning of materials needed to support manufacturing operations. You will build strong supplier relationships, drive cost-effective purchasing decisions, and ensure timely delivery of critical materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Source, purchase, and negotiate pricing for materials, supplies, services, and technical components.
Create and manage purchase orders while maintaining accurate procurement documentation.
Partner with suppliers to improve quality, delivery performance, and overall value.
Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Support new product development initiatives by working with vendors to source specialized materials and components.
Monitor open orders, proactively expedite shipments, and resolve supply chain disruptions.
Communicate delivery schedules and material availability to internal stakeholders.
Research market trends and identify new suppliers to enhance sourcing strategies.
Maintain accurate vendor, pricing, and procurement data within ERP systems.
Provide cross-functional support and backup coverage for other purchasing team members.
Represent the Purchasing department in meetings and initiatives as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Working towards or having obtained a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field.
0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in: Purchasing/Buying, Materials Planning, Production Planning, Supply Chain Operations
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred.
Experience with production scheduling
Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MRP and inventory management systems.
Supplier management and vendor negotiation experience.
Background in aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, or highly regulated industries.
Knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain principles.
