Job Description

DESCRIPTION: The Art Paraprofessional provides standards-aligned visual arts instruction to students in grades K�5. The Art Paraprofessional plans and facilitates engaging art experiences that promote creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and artistic expression while supporting the school's mission, culture, and instructional priorities. The Art Paraprofessional creates a safe and inclusive learning environment and collaborates with classroom teachers to support student success.

SALARY:  Classified Grade J, starting at $20.13 per hour, depending on recent relevant experience.   7.5 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday on the 9-month work schedule, paid over 12 months.  Position is eligible for benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction

  • Plan and deliver engaging visual arts lessons for students in grades K�5.
  • Teach foundational art concepts, techniques, and creative processes.
  • Facilitate hands-on projects using a variety of media and materials.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Support school-wide instructional priorities and student engagement.

Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain classroom routines and expectations.
  • Supervise students and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Reinforce school-wide behavior expectations and PBIS practices.

Program Management

  • Maintain inventory of art supplies and materials.
  • Organize student artwork displays throughout the school.
  • Coordinate school art shows, exhibitions, and special events.
  • Manage preparation, cleanup, and storage of materials.

Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and intervention staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development as assigned.
  • Communicate with families regarding student participation and special events.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children.
  • Demonstrated interest, experience, or training in visual arts.

Preferred

  • Coursework in art, education, child development, or related fields.
  • Experience teaching or leading youth art programs.
  • Experience managing groups of students independently.
