We are seeking a Buyer/Planner to join our Supply Chain team at embecta’s high-volume medical device manufacturing site in Dun Laoghaire.
This role is responsible for balancing market demand with production capacity across a regulated, multi-step manufacturing and sterilisation process. You will play a key role in ensuring continuity of supply for global markets by developing robust production schedules and managing material availability in a complex, supplier-dependent environment.
You will work cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Global Planning teams to translate demand plans into achievable production and supply strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain production schedules aligned to the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
- Monitor execution and adjust plans in response to production or supply variability
- Analyse performance and implement mitigation plans to achieve volume and mix targets
Supply & Procurement Management
- Procure raw materials and components in line with production requirements
- Manage supplier delivery performance and escalate supply risks
- Maintain inventory within agreed targets, proactively managing shortages, excess, and obsolescence
Cross-functional Coordination
- Act as a key interface between site Operations and Global Planning teams
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Engineering to ensure achievable and compliant plans
- Communicate changes, risks, and priorities clearly to stakeholders
Systems & Data Integrity
- Maintain accurate planning parameters including lead times and BOM data in SAP
- Partner with Master Data Owner to ensure system data supports effective planning decisions
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or related discipline
- 4–6 years’ experience in supply planning, materials planning, or purchasing in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience in regulated industries (medical device, pharma, or similar) preferred
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong planning and analytical capability; able to balance demand, capacity, and supply constraints
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred)
- Solid understanding of inventory management principles (lead times, safety stock, MOQ)
- Ability to identify and mitigate supply and production risks
- Strong stakeholder management skills in a cross-functional, global environment
- High attention to detail and data accuracy discipline
